A delegation from the Constitution Party of Oregon, consisting of Robert Brown, Ontario; Mary Starrett, Newberg; Bob Ekstrom, Scappoose joined the large majority of delegates from other state parties to nominate Pastor Chuck Baldwin of Pensacola, Florida as the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2008 election. The Oregon party is not formally affiliated with the national party but was nevertheless allowed to vote at this convention.The nomination was sought by 7 individuals but was a contest primarily between former United Nations Ambassador Alan Keyes and Chuck Baldwin a long-time party leader who had served as the CP vice-presidential nominee in 2004. The margin of support for Mr. Baldwin appeared to rest on his longer-term involvement in the party as well as his policy positions,which are more in line with the Constitution Party platform. The vote favored Baldwin 384 to 126 for Keyes.

By Mary StarrettThis afternoon I emailed a radio talk show host, a former colleague at a local station. For years, this woman has called attention to the ravages of illegal immigration. Now she tells her listeners that GOP presidential candidate John McCain is the answer to what ails this country. I reminded her of her criticisms of immigration policies that have trashed our neighborhoods, highways, schools, hospitals, social service agencies, prison budgets and the like, and asked how she could now support a candidate who never met an amnesty bill he did not absolutely gush over. I also asked the supposed “conservative” talker how she could push McCain when his track record shows he’s not pro-life, not pro-2nd amendment and not even close to being fiscally conservative. I also reminded her that the man she believes is the best choice for president sponsored some of the most horrific anti-first amendment legislation when he penned the McCain-Feingold bill. “So exactly how is McCain any different on those issues than his Democrat opponents?” I wanted to know. Her response was “well, he’d be a whole lot better than Hillary or Obama and at least he’s strong on the war.” Read Full Story

Rick Jore, Montana State House Rep. HD12, with the Constitution Party of Montana, is scheduled for a special appearance in Oregon. He is the champion of the successful resistance to the Federal REAL ID act in Montana, as well as to Federal nullification of the 2nd Amendment (See progunleaders.org), and many other liberty causes.Postponed to June 7th.

So used to being smacked around, they simply cannot see their way clear to pack their bags and leave the party or the candidates who’ve been mistreating them. McCain’s history should be enough proof the man can’t be trusted, yet it appears, like those who repeatedly find themselves in sick relationships, these voters simply cannot get enough of that which they do not want. As former IRS agent Sherry Jackson recently found out, walking into a US federal courtroom and expecting justice makes about as much sense as walking up to a craps table and betting your entire fortune on a roll of the dice. The four-year federal sentence handed down last week for her non-violent “crime” of “willful failure to file” means somebody at the IRS, (Insurgents Representing Satan) really does not like Sherry Jackson. She would probably have gotten less time if she were convicted of killing someone while driving drunk. Her only mistake was in naively thinking that a federal court would actually give her a fair trial.

After you hear the candidate’s name ask: “Why?” Nine times out of ten, you’ll hear some mutterings like: “He’s really conservative” or “We need a Christian in the White House” or “He’s the best qualified.” Ask for some specifics and you’re likely to see eyes shift downward as the subject is changed. The truth of the matter is, most people are woefully uninformed and are buying the lying of ‘front-runner’ candidates and their media sock puppets. Last weekend at a department store, I heard two sales women mention Ron Paul. I listened to the following comments as I poked through the sweater racks. Woman #1: “He’s so creepy, I just kept taking that poll online ‘til it finally showed I was for someone else.” Woman #2:” I know, he’s really a weirdo. It came up for Ron Paul for me, too, but I would never vote for him.” For one moment, I questioned the wisdom of women’s suffrage. Read Full Story

Eugene, OR - On January 19, 2008, the Steering Committee of the CONSTITUTION PARTY OF OREGON met and voted to offer our wholehearted endorsement of Congressman Ron Paul for President. Chairman Jack Alan Brown, Jr. said, “This may seem as an unusual step for the CONSTITUTION PARTY OF OREGON, to endorse a Republican, but our reason is clear – Congressman Paul is the best choice among any of the candidates currently seeking the nomination from the “two” big parties.”

The Constitution Party of Oregon is an independent state political party with ballot access in the state of Oregon under that name. We have achieved exclusive use of ballot access in Oregon with that name by collecting petition signatures, by our subsequent candidates' performance at the polls, and by the number of voters who have chosen to register with our party in this state, as required by its election laws.
As our platform makes clear, we are 100% pro life in our stand, considering all human life to be innocent at conception. We have not compromised that 100% pro life position by nominating candidates or state party officers unsupportive to that stand. There is no national association of independent state political parties that can make that claim sincerely (based on their practices) in spite of statements to the contrary by the national Constitution Party. Because of that, we are not currently affiliated with any group of state parties from other parts of the nation.
Our independent existence does not interfere with us putting candidates on the ballot. We are at total liberty to place a presidential and vice-presidential candidate (and Oregon electors pledged to them) on the ballot in Oregon. We can do so, no matter what their party affiliation is or what national party (if any) has nominated them, if they meet our basic criteria for candidates, including a 100% pro life position as described in our state party platform.
